ASSA ABLOY was formerly known as Interlock and was founded on 24 November 1961 by a part time inventor, Ron Davis, and a small Wellington building company called Young Bros Builders Ltd. The name Interlock came from the company’s initial line of work, making fencing for the Wellington area, where the rails of the fence interlocked so they would withstand the harsh windy conditions of Wellington.
