Columbus Coffee at Smales Farm /Local/NZ/Images/Columbus_524x224.jpg Showcasing some of the most technologcally advanced building in New Zealand, Smales Farm has been developed with environmentally sustainable features and iconic architectural designs. ASSA ABLOY is proud to be part of the solution in this unique site, particularly for the popular ground level cafe, Columbus Coffee, located at the heart of Smales Farm in the Award Winning "Q4" building. When Peddle Thorp Architects asked ASSA ABLOY to specify hardware for the cafe's glazed timber doors, the requirements included allowing single action opening through a pair of timber swinging doors on a six panel bi-fold with concealed bolting. Henderson's Weatherfold Coastal 75 Elite system, with stainless steel componentry, was the perfect fit for the bi-folding doors. This gives ease of outdoor flow from the interior to the courtyard with the assurance of withstanding Auckland's unpredictable weather. The timber version of the ever popular Twin Bolt is designed to suit Henderson's Weatherfold systems with the ability to accommodate swing door applications, so fitted perfectly with the design and security requirements of the cafe. On this project ASSA ABLOY initiated an adaptation of the Interlock Level Compression Lock to suit the timber application. This lock is a particularly popular choice in such applications as it provides four points of locking within the door and generates high seal pressure to give improved water and air seal performance. Finally, the contemporary Aria Lever on Palladium was used with matching Aria Level Twin Bolt to complete the look.
